This time he picks up the transmitter, it isn’t to his guardian.

Gods no. She’d teleport him back in seconds.

No, this time he decides it’s time to put the promises of the new Chieftain to the test. So-named ‘protector’ of both Phoenix and his younger brother.. Well.

They’d see.

“Corvo..” His voice is noticeably strained, in spite of the relief of hearing a young, and familiar, friendly voice.

“No.. No I .. there’s nothing wrong with me… exactly...” He wanders around the small lounge in the beach hut, looking seawards from the window.

“I’m trying to tell you!” He pulls a cigarette from the air and it lights as he takes a draw.  Once he’s managed to get a few words in he tells Corvo of what’s happened earlier today.

There’s a pause and he finds himself speaking to his brother.

There’s another long pause as Phoenix struggles to reconcile himself to the fact.

“..Yes he’s a friend ..” He manages after numerous questions.

“Um. Azrael? Yes I think they’re well acquainted… What? Drakus, with enormous respect, I always speak like this!”

“Just a bad headache. No, I know I’m not meant to get them…”

“Yes.”

“I will?”

“Oh.. of course, I will… you know Addie don’t you?”

“He’s her adopted brother.”

“I hoped it might.”

The transmission ends abruptly and he tosses the device down on the sofa and sighs, crossing to the window and leaning his head against the cool glass.

Someone’s not in the best of moods.
